Release the stress, empty your mind and enter the present moment... That’s easier said than done, but Meditopia can help. This mobile mental wellness platform has meditation sessions for any mood and experience level, focusing on breathing techniques and modules that touch on topics such as combatting anxiety and embracing body positivity, as well as very lightly guided programmes. Also available in Arabic and English, sessions vary from a minute to more than 20 minutes long, so you can choose a length you feel most comfortable with.
If you find it almost impossible to start a meditation habit or want to elevate your already nourished skills, these handy tips will help you get the most out of your Meditopia experience.
1) Start by exploring your emotions
Meditopia has dozens of modules with several meditations in each one. From this abundance of options, the Emotions series is a good starting point. With guided sessions touching on highly relatable topics such as anxiety, stress, compassion and gratitude, you’ll feel engaged without forcing yourself into meditating – something that will strengthen the foundations of your journey.
2) Personalise your background sound
By default, meditations have the Self Discovery background sound at a set volume, but you can personalise this by readjusting the volume or the sound itself. Among the many soothing sound options, you’ll find Crystals, Raindrops, Windy Nature, Fireplace and Forest Ambiance. Try experimenting with some of them to see how they impact on your overall experience, and find the best pick for your mood.
3) Try a challenge to be more consistent
Once you start meditating for two consecutive days, the app will invite you to join a challenge to turn these helpful daily breaks into a habit. Start with a seven-day challenge and take on the 10 and 30-day challenges to further strengthen your routine. Meditating on a daily basis is crucial for increasing your ability to stay in the moment – maybe in a year you’ll be showing off your 365-day challenge badge to fellow Meditopia enthusiasts.
4) Head to your notes for inspiration
After each session, Meditopia prompts you to add some optional notes around the topics and questions raised during the practice. This post-meditation journaling experience can be as transformative as the session itself, as this is where you reflect on the practice and the impact it had on you. When you need inspiration to stick to your routine, head to your notes – which are protected with Face ID or a passcode – via Profile > My Notes.
5) Download your go-to sessions for offline listening
Keep track of your go-to sessions so you have easy access to them at all times. You can view your most-listened-to sessions within the app via Profile > Most Listened or discover recently practised ones in Profile > My Journey. Choose the ones you want to go back to, head to the meditation page and download by tapping on the icon.
