GAMES WE LOVE

SwipeRogue

Crawl through dungeons, one square at a time.

Going slow is the only way forward in SwipeRogue, where every 5-by-7 grid dungeon needs to be worked through square by square. Take out enemies, scrounge up loot and activate skills at opportune times. This is a game of puzzle-like challenges that you can try, fail and try again.

What we love: Fight-or-flight takes a back seat to your four stats at the bottom of the screen: health, weapon, food and gold. A weapon count that’s higher than your enemy’s health points grants you victory. But if your weapon count’s too low, your health will dip too. A depleted food supply means you’ll start losing health when you move. And the game’s over when your health reaches zero.

Between floors, there are shops where you can spend gold to upgrade skills or gain health, so it’s important to take on a few monsters and pocket some gold along the way. Know how far you need to travel and where enemies and items are located along the way, then proceed with caution.

Running low on gold? Time to pick a fight with the nearest monsters!

Quick tip: Each character you control has skills that are activated based on the direction you move. For example, moving up three times in a row triggers a skill that deals heavy damage to the enemy with the highest HP on the field. Take that into account when plotting your escape route!
