The same tiled corridor. The same man with a briefcase. Nothing has changed—or has it? You’ll need keen observation skills to escape The Exit 8’s surreal looping metro station. The rules are simple: If you see something that looks out of the ordinary, turn around and head the other way. If everything appears normal, keep going forward. Each correct decision will bring you one step closer to the exit.
What we love: Encountering mind-bending (and freaky!) anomalies. Some are subtle, like a doorknob that’s changed position. Others are more startling, like a concert poster that’s been replaced by a ghoulish image. And some will reset your progress if you don’t backtrack in time. See a camouflaged figure on the wall in front of you? Turn and run!
Quick tip: Look up. Sometimes an anomaly will be on the ceiling—like a faint water stain in the shape of a face, or the Exit 8 sign mounted upside down. And don’t forget to check the reverse side of that sign—if it says turn back, you’d better listen!
Meet the creator: The Exit 8’s Japanese solo developer, who goes by Kotake Create, used a real-world subway station’s underground passage for reference photos.
