Can you put world-famous works back together?

The Picassos are in pieces, the Monets are mangled, and the Warhols look even weirder than usual. Welcome to the Museum of Scrambled Art, where every renowned piece in the virtual exhibit is a sliding-tile puzzle. Move squares until the Mona Lisa is smiling again and Frida Kahlo’s parrots are properly perched on her shoulders. You’re a veritable design detective!

What we love: Learning about famous art. Complete a puzzle to reveal the artist, where the real-world work is displayed, and a cool factoid. Did you know that Girl with a Pearl Earring is a tronie (a portrait-style painting that’s not based on an actual person), and that the wave emoji on iPhone is inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa?

Gentle sounds and relaxing music make this museum feel welcoming.

Quick tip: Some puzzle tiles have an arrow inside a gear icon. That arrow ultimately needs to be pointing up, but these tiles rotate any time an adjacent piece is moved. Be sure to plan a few steps ahead—otherwise, Picasso’s Boy with a Pipe might have his head on upside down.

Meet the creator: Polish-born software engineer Dawid Fatyga included several puzzles based on paintings by Polish artists Zdzisław Beksiński and Tamara de Lempicka. And the game’s very last gallery features adorable drawings by one of Fatyga’s own daughters.
