What we love: Choosing the mode that fits your intention. In Photography mode, Lumy shows the countdown to golden hour, while Hiking mode surfaces sunset and last light times. Moon Watching mode reveals when the moon is in its waxing gibbous phase. To switch modes, tap the icon in the lower left corner.

Quick tip: Whichever mode you’re in, you can also time travel using the slider at the top of the screen to scrub through the day and preview light conditions ahead.

Meet the creator: Developer of the Apple Design Award–winning app Calzy, Raja Vijayaraman created Lumy to serve his own needs as a photographer. Before building apps, Vijayaraman worked as a visual effects artist on movies, including the 2010 Indian sci-fi hit Robot.
