New in 4.1: press Option-Tab anywhere to search every open Safari tab and every tab you ever saved, then jump straight to it. Chrome, Edge and Firefox tabs with Pro.
Featured by Apple on the App Store in four editorial stories.
Tab Space for Mac is now a free download. Save a window full of Safari tabs as one session, close it, and reopen it exactly as it was — on any of your Macs.
Bought Tab Space before version 4.0? Plus is already yours, permanently and at no charge: unlimited sessions and every feature you had, with nothing to do and nothing to subscribe to.
Tab Space includes the following features:
1. Save & Restore Tabs — Save your browsing tabs with just one click. Restore them whenever you need, individually or all at once.
2. Browser Tab Switcher — Press ⌥Tab anywhere on your Mac to search every tab you have open and every tab you have ever saved, then jump straight to it. Searching your saved sessions is free on every plan; tabs from Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox require Pro. The shortcut is configurable, and the menu bar icon can be hidden.
3. iCloud Sync — Your saved sessions sync automatically across all your Mac devices via iCloud.
4. Tag System — Add custom tags to organize your saved sessions. Use Tab Space as a workflow launcher—create a "News" workflow to open all your favorite news websites with a single click. Star your favorite sessions for quick access.
5. Search — Quickly find any saved session by searching titles, URLs, or tags.
6. Drag & Drop — Reorganize your sessions and individual tabs by dragging them. Move tabs between sessions or reorder your session list.
7. Merge Sessions — Combine multiple sessions into one for better organization.
8. Export & Import:
- Export sessions as Text, Markdown, HTML, or JSON backup files
- Import from Tab Space backup files (.tabspace)
- Import from OneTab
9. Automatic Backups — Tab Space automatically creates backups when you save sessions. Smart retention keeps 7 hourly, 7 daily, 4 weekly, and 12 monthly backups. Easily restore from any backup.
10. Keyboard Shortcuts — Powerful shortcuts for Safari that offer commonly used functions:
- Ctrl + D — Duplicate current tab
- Ctrl + L — Close left tabs
- Ctrl + R — Close right tabs
- Ctrl + K — Close same domain tabs
- Ctrl + Q — Close all other tabs
- Ctrl + ; — Save all tabs and close them
- Ctrl + S — Save current tab to Tab Space
- Ctrl + T — Open Tab Space
- …and more, all configurable in Settings
11. Customizable Settings:
- Ignore pinned tabs when saving
- Ignore duplicate tabs
- Save tabs from all windows
- Remove site from session after clicking
- Trigger shortcuts with Ctrl + Shift instead of Ctrl
- Disable shortcuts or context menus if needed
12. Dark Mode — Beautiful interface with full dark mode support.
13. Multi-language — Available in 16 languages including English, Chinese, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Korean, and more.
14. AI Organizing (optional) — Let AI name a saved session, suggest tags, or split a session by topic. AI is off until you turn it on, and Tab Space shows you exactly what would be sent before the first request: only page titles and URLs, never page contents.
15. Multi-Browser Support — Use the same sessions in Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox through the companion extensions.
Plans:
- Free: all core features above, up to 2 saved sessions, and 5 AI requests per week.
- Plus (one-time purchase): unlimited saved sessions. If you bought Tab Space for Mac before version 4.0, Plus is yours permanently at no charge.
- Pro (monthly or yearly subscription): everything in Plus, plus unlimited AI organizing and multi-browser support. The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
Sessions you have already saved are never deleted or hidden.

The best tab saver I've found so far
MadScene
Was a huge OneTab fan on Chrome. Tab Space is pretty solid, works the way I would expect, but some minor issues. One that is annoying, but not critical is that whenever I close all tabs, it fails to open the Tab Space page. It says there is an error, but then I can click "Open Tab Space" and my tabs are there, so at least it saves them, just an extra step to show them again!

I used to keep minimized windows in my dock of Safari pages I wold "immenently" come back to. But that was high risk (because I could lose that state through crashes or accidental closures). I could have the open tabs as a tab group in my favorites (and sometimes do), but then the favorites bar becomes cluttered. This is a fantastic way to group related tabs together (especially when thye're task related) and to see them listed out in list form when looking at the main tab-space page. I espeically appreciate the tagging built right into it. I only wish that this extension worked across devices (i.e., iOS and iPadOS) and sync'ed its info acrsoss them.
Safari's Greatest Missing Feature

I remember back in the day I used a broswer called Camino that saved windows and tabs. But I prefer Safari's native integration, and had to deal with a few sacrifices since switching.Tab Space rectifies one of those sacrifices. It's so simple but so functional. It gives me a happy balance between maintaining a minimal workspace while accessing tons of websites, and saving them since I never have time to go through them all.I saw the developer mention getting a UI designer to spruce up the look which will be nice, but Tab Space perfectly functional as is.My only wish-list consideration is that somehow the webpage for saved tab spaces will be available outside of Safari/Mac, so that I could access them on iOS for example. Even though TS probably couldn't launch windows from the saved tabs on iOS (or could it? maybe on iPad?), it would be helpful to still access the saved links from the TS webpage, since I organize tabs by topic. That would complete the Tab Space experience for me. It would be so much better than using Reading List or iCloud Tabs!

Thanks so much for your positive feedback! A beta version of Tab Space for iOS will soon be available. But on iOS, no matter for saving or opening, it can only handle one tab at a time due to iOS’s limitations, which makes it less useful, in my opinion. It will serve as a good tab viewer for your saved tabs from Mac. But I am thinking about how to make it more useful as a standalone app! 😅
Useful & Easy to Use

It does what I want it to do and even looks nice! My only complaint is that it that I had to give it permission to read all contents from my webpages, which I don't like. I understand that the extension needs to be able to see what tabs I have open, but I would much prefer that it can't see passwords and credit card numbers that I enter on other websites. I would like to know why it is necessary for the extension to work and why it can't use less invasive options.UPDATE: Changing this from 4 to 5 stars because of the developer response. Huge credit to them for actually responding!

Hello! Welcome to ask questions and explore together. Based on the principle of browser extension, Tab Space uses injected scripts in web pages to implement some of its functions. These injected scripts *theoretically* have access to all the information on the web pages, so you can see that most browser extensions are marked as being able to access sensitive information. In order to alleviate users' concerns to the greatest extent possible and prove that our script is only used for tab management-related functions, we have open-sourced this injected script on GitHub(https://github.com/yuanzhoucq/Tab-Space), where you can find more discussions about it and verify it yourself. Thank you for your support and feel free to ask any other questions!
What's New in 4.1.2:
- Close tabs straight from the tab switcher with Command-W, without saving them first.
- Select several tabs with Shift and the arrow keys, or Command-click, then save, close, or copy them together.
- Close every duplicate tab at once with Command-D. The switcher keeps the copy you are looking at.
- Add tabs to a session you already saved with Shift-Command-A, instead of always creating a new one.
- Copy links with Shift-Command-C.
- Tabs you return to most now appear first, and Shift-Command-S saves what your search found.
- Press Command-/ in the switcher for the full list of shortcuts.
- You can now turn off opening the dashboard after saving.
