This company has some seriously good intention people working there, innovative ideas, a focus on different actions to help the world out - people, plants, animals, air, water, and other aspects of the Earth we all share. They do this while also keeping a dedicated focus on the individual account holder the sas a customer - to reward them consistently through incredible CB programs. Future presents the customer (us!) with lots choices - a plethora of categories, the ability to donate points / cash back to positive community and goal oriented organizations if you choose to, or to cash out the points and add that money to your own funds. They also have a current 4% + APY always ticking on your balance! There is no pressure put on you with a Future account - no spending requirements to meet, no number of transaction quotas to fill, no minimum balance to maintain, every transaction earns a minimum of 1% CB, access to ACH transfers with your linked accounts, and even an instant transfer menu if you want to use Venmo, Cash App, or Apple Pay to put money in your account when you need it in an instant. They have both a steady and fluctuating “earn” tab where the featured CB categories are listed - and zero limits as to how many you activate. Future doesn’t limit you or pressure you - instead they offer a constant steam of options - each one upholding some type of positive impact in the world or directly to help you and your own personal financial situation. Great debit card for high cash back on ecological shopping like ev charging and thrift store shopping or electric bill paying through a third party sustainable energy dealer.And yet as ecological as they claim to be they still have no option to decline a plastic card in order to just use your phone with apple pay or Google pay. I know they are an option but why make them only an option? New sign ups should be able to try out the service with just their phone and if they like the way it works go ahead and order a physical card. Maybe they were thinking some thrift store don't accept apple pay. Juno is a non earth focused debit card but they used to charge their customers for a physical card for the specific reason to encourage digital wallet use as an ecological alternative to carrying multiple plastic cards. You would think an earth based card would be more interested in at least offering the option to go plastic free.

I love the rewards and eco-focus but app needs work

I love the concept and it’s been great to earn 5% back on used clothing at local thrift stores and other used things bought on eBay. I also love that any future bus and train tickets or bike repairs or rentals will earn 5%.The app has not been intuitive for me to use, but their email customer support has been pretty good and has helped me figure out the app better.I’ve provided them some feedback to make things more accessible. For example when I got my physical Debit card I had to activate it in the app. The app had a glitch and wouldn’t let me activate it. When I reached out I asked for help with the glitch and encouraged them to add a phone number to call to activate the card as another option for back up if the app has issues and for people who find calling a phone number easier. They then did give me a phone number I could call to activate the card with Visa. I got the app to work by installing it on a different phone. To me it’s basic that you’d include a phone number option for card activation. I hope they figure out that making things easy and accessible to all will help them grow their customer base and their social impact.

Nice Rewards Concept, Poor Execution

I signed up for the transit and utility rewards. Unfortunately the utility account system does not allow me to actually pay my bill and was challenging to even get the account to show up. I emailed the company and based on other reviews I’m sure they will get back to me, but this is already more effort than is worth the “savings” I am getting from the rewards. And customer service is only in the office on weekdays. And I’m using ConEd, the largest utility provider in NYC, not an edge case. It appears that for every feature, whether it be connecting utility accounts, funding the account, or transferring funds in and out of the account, is handled by a different vendor. I’m sure that creates a tangled mess for them to manage, but ultimately without seamless vendor integrations this app is not ready for prime time. That’s disappointing given the spend on an MTA transit campaign and $34-$136 per user on MTA rebates that they are burning through to acquire New York customers during the month of December. If I were running this company, I’d hold off on what appear to be clear feature creeps, like that addition of a sustainable merch store (kind of a greenwashing oxymoron) and instead focus on vendor management and ensuring a seamless experience for all of the connected accounts. Otherwise this is going to be a fun novelty tool for a few weeks and then users will decide it’s really more effort to manage than it’s worth. Also consider whether your tech stack and vendor management team is really actually qualified to manage these accounts because these are truly obvious gaps. I hope it can improve because I like the free money!
