Blades of Brim

Everything about this game is great. From the art style, the music, to the game mechanics. The game has the typical runner game base, but with a nice twist that makes it unique. The chests in which you get items are found pretty frequently and it's nice to see that they're not only acquired through the shop, or being extremely rare. There are no intrusive ads at all which is a relief. Completely understand that this a free game and devs need to make money, but it's very refreshing to not have to close an ad at the start up of the game and after every run. The cash shop is your typical cash shop, but like Subway Surfers, the game doesn't revolve around it. Let's hope it stays this way for a while at least. (No ads and chests being common) Love the game, and I will probably purchase things from the cash shop. To support the devs and the game.I have run into a few bugs, but for me they haven't been extremely game breaking or made me not want to play. It's going to happen with any new game, and shouldn't stop you from trying out the game. One being the map disappearing and falling into nothing. Others have described what may be causing it. Another being the "smite" (?) touch thing, doesn't seem to work sometimes. Kind of like its lagging behind and only hits two enemies and I've already passed them. The game may need to be a little more optimized. Quest notifications popping up seem to lag the game a bit. But, I do have an S4, so my phone could be part of the reason for the lag.
This is my go to time waster, it’s pretty simple and the games don’t last too long. The weapons are pretty varied with a ton of different ways to play. I love the slight strategy of armor combinations, it’s just enough to take a little thought, but it’s not something you’re gonna be spending too much time on until you start collecting several different pieces for one character. It’s super generous with currency too , all chest types are available for gold and orbs are everywhere. Overall this is a really fun game and something I’ll happily put a little while into every day. I do have a couple of critiques though, the first being that different heroes feel kind of useless, I love the concept just not the execution. First of all the rarities don’t really mean anything aside from the score bonus, but there’s nothing about any of them that is truly unique to that hero, which makes collecting them lose the sense of achievement it should have. My suggestion would be to give each hero a unique upgradeable skill that costs orbs to upgrade, something to sink them into after you’ve already collected most of the gear. My other suggestion would be that equipping all armor pieces from the same set grants another skill, something that could be on a weapon. Adding both of these would add an extra layer of strategy that would definitely motivate me spend some more time on the game trying out different armor sets, heroes and simply playing to upgrade gear. And finally please please please add new worlds and levels, that’s the best part!
You know that old cliche about sports fans yelling at the TV whenever the referee makes a call they don’t like? Well, get ready to do a lot of that if you download this game.Blades of Brim is Sybo’s attempt to mix an endless runner game, a genre they’ve already become famous for with Subway Surfers, with elements of a dungeon crawler, complete with enchanted weapons and faceless ogres. The idea is appealing and the gameplay is fun. But the real problem is that they can’t seamlessly combine the dodging obstacles with the combat aspect. For example, in the game you’ll see a thug to your left and swipe that direction to kill it. Easy enough, until you realize that particular thug was standing in front of a bottomless pit. You couldn’t have known because the thug was completely blocking it. You don’t have time to dodge it; you fall in and die instantly. That’s how about half of your games will end. What’s more, the swords can offer some interesting and sometimes kind of helpful passives, but they don’t really do anything game-changing or useful. They’re mostly just aesthetic.Honestly, the game would be ten times better if there were an occasional life-up power up to help alleviate the damage and make taking damage from enemies less dangerous so players can pay more attention to the bottomless pits. But until then, there are better endless runners on the market.
After playing multiple different endless runner games there’s one thing I can say about this one: “Revolutionary”! This game introduces something that should’ve been introduced a while back to endless runners. Upgrades, weapons , enemies , pets, different chapters, etc etc…. Why yes other endless runners already have that , but this game in particular takes it up a notch. Every weapon is upgradable and has different powers making the game more enjoyable and keeps you intrigued wanting to unlock more and more equipment to see what the next weapon/hero/pet has to offer. While running it’s not just one basic map but switches themes! Enemies: enemies are a big part of this game and being able to actually attack whilst running is quite enjoyable, but it does take some time and training to get used to the attack mechanisms. Overall this game tops other endless runners and has sooooo much potential! More updates incoming and I can’t wait to see what maps, weapons, heroes it will bring in the future. Now, some improvements to be made: 1. Some areas are over saturated with enemies and almost impossible to get past without losing a heart or two. 2. The weapon powers are easy to accidentally activate (all it takes is an accidental tap) 3. Some parts of the map are too easy to fly off of (maybe add a slower downfall? 4. Powers/weapons need to have better descriptions! Can find it confusing to see what powers actually do when selecting them and can be time consuming to decide which weapon/power to utilize.Overall this game is absolutely fantastic! Not a whole lot of ads that disrupt playing, and enough content to keep a player entertained, on a scale of 1-10 for endless runners this would definitely get a 10!
There is few problems so far I experience:1. Just like previous update(the wind ) the glitch comes and go at the same time. It's the part called "freezing screen and kicking out" because the screen will just freeze and suddenly force you out of the game. Even though restart and restart, it still existed. Come to think of it, this problem existed ever since the game was brought in with advertisement and also Game Center recognition. That is why to SYBO: Stop brings in those advertisement! You are killing the great game here because of this way!2. This update also brought in the self-upgrade, which use your money in game to upgrade your characters in order to let you use certain items last longer. However, the problem is not this, it's related with those upgrade with pets because they also getting higher money to upgrade as well. 3. Since I play "the fire" version, I was busy on going through the fire dungeon because of getting those fire tokens. However, even though without those, I still won't go to get those chests because those prizes seem not change a bit. Unattractive update on those chest that only getting the normal and little bit higher level of weapon. I never get any armors at all!If SYBO updates all back to the normal state, that is still fun , addictive and kill-time games and I am glad to put two more stars in review.
I loved the simplicity of the game before the changes. I enjoyed knowing to power up my weapons to a certain point to beat tougher opponents. The idea to get a high score was to kill opponents and they got tougher over time and store your rewards after you got to the gate. Seeing a map to see how far I had to go was actually useful, now the game feels long not quick. I don't see the point anymore of getting rare weapons anymore. They are useless, and I appreciated knowing which weapons I still needed to get. Now I only see my own weapons and all my epic ones don't even have powers. The most basic weapons have cooler powers so I prefer to use them. Only seeing one goal is awful! Not only did you take away seeing three but you also dropped my level that I worked so hard to get and it will take me months if I played nonstop to get back! Which isn't happening if these changes stick. The characters are also looking more 3Dish which is cool and all but the graphics were better before and less distracting. (I agree with the Sub Surfer comment. I deleted the game same day I had it. Too boring.) Regenerating hearts are gone which kills this even more. Next time you do game-playing changes, please don't do them all at ones in the future. Don't you have beta testers to tell you some of those ideas aren't good? Yes, the idea was to make the game tougher, but when you make it unreasonably tough so that we have to spend money (which isn't happening) then you will not have the same supporters sticking for long.
