Thanks to generative AI technology, there are now lots of great tools such as ChatGPT that can help us level up in both creativity and productivity. Here are some of our favourite tips on how you can integrate ChatGPT into your work and daily life.
Draft your CV
Creating a great CV is never easy, and it only gets more difficult if you’re trying to apply for multiple positions at once. With ChatGPT, you can go through that same process but save a lot of time in editing and customising your applications.
Paste your current draft, then try adding specific prompts such as “Revise and expand my CV in an applicant tracking system-optimised format for a senior position in project management”. You’ll then get a tailored draft CV that you can polish and send off quickly.
Brainstorm ideas
Coming up with ideas is usually easier when a few people put their heads together, but ChatGPT can act as your sounding board in a pinch.
Try inputting prompts such as “Give five ideas for a community campaign to recycle e-waste”, then drill down into the ideas that catch your eye. ChatGPT can give you statistics and examples to support your ideas too, which you can then verify with separate sources to make sure you have the most up-to-date information.
Summarise complex articles
Got a lengthy report or article to get through? ChatGPT can help explain complex jargon and concepts to you in plainer language.
Paste the content into ChatGPT, ask it to “Create a one-paragraph summary of this article using simple terms” and you’ll get a quick gist of the key ideas. Remember though, this is still a cursory approach and doesn’t replace proper learning.
Learn to code
ChatGPT is not only a pro at natural language – it’s a great programming tutor on different functions, data structures and syntaxes as well.
Beginner coders can ask to “Write code in C++ to quicksort an array with detailed comments”. You will then get a coding example with lots of explanation to help you understand what each line does.
Plan your trips
When you’re planning a holiday, ChatGPT can take some of the stress off your shoulders and make your upcoming trip more relaxing.
Start with a big-picture prompt such as “Plan a two-week trip with daily plans in Thailand and Vietnam”, then add in parameters such as “affordable budget” or “focus on local culture and cuisine”. This will give you some ideas for what may interest you and how you can fit activities into your schedule. Just make sure to double-check availability before you book.
