From the creators of Apple Design Award–winner Procreate, the Procreate Dreams iPad app offers a host of innovative tools to help anyone create rich 2D animations. Its huge 2025 update introduced a host of noteworthy features, such as a new Flipbook and 150+ animation brushes designed by brush guru Kyle T. Webster, to make the app even more powerful.

What we love: Procreate Dreams is an animator’s complete one-stop-shop. Instead of jumping between a series of pro tools, you can animate, keyframe and edit video, all within its Multi-touch Timeline. Use gestures such as double-tap to jump to a point in the Timeline, or pinch out for a birds-eye view of all the components of your animation. The 2025 update also added the highly requested features of Selection and Transform, for even greater control.

Quick tip: For inspiration and a peek into the inner workings of the app, check out sample projects on the Theater tab. Select a movie to explore how the Timeline works, and adjust the interactive elements to see how it was brought to life. If you delete a key scene by accident, bring it back from Procreate Dreams’ eternal undo history.

Meet the creators: Procreate, co-founded by Tasmanian husband-and-wife team James and Alanna Cuda, is guided by the idea that art is for everyone. “With Procreate Dreams, you don’t need any prior knowledge to animate,” James tells the App Store. “You can simply make a gorgeous picture and then use your imagination to make stuff move and bring it to life with animation.”
