YuTuo Games set out with a clear mission: to help the world get to know Taiwan. Founders Michael Liao and Sam Wu have been incorporating distinctly local flavours into their titles since 2017, and their game worlds reflect the rich culture and landscapes of the island they call home.

What they’re known for
YuTuo Games combine leisurely gameplay with elements that are uniquely Taiwan: old neighbourhoods, night markets, hot springs and a special human connection. Explore local lore in Onsen of Spirits, sample delectable fare in Idle Nightmarket or manage a vibrant community in Happy Town Online.

Behind the scenes
• In Happy Town Online, you can choose which deity to worship in your town’s temple. The most popular choice is the Heavenly Mother, followed by the Tiger God, Third Prince Nezha, Xuantian, Lord Guan Yu and King Guangze.
• The dog name “Wangcai” was so popular in Happy Town Online’s pet system that developers made an emergency patch to add more names into the mix.
• Pilgrimages and temple fair parades started off as still pictures, but developers created fully animated scenes to better showcase Taiwan’s unique culture.
