Light side or dark side? In Lego Star Wars Battles on Apple Arcade, they’re two sides of the same coin – literally: a coin flip determines whether you’re good or evil each time you fire up a match in this strategic card-collecting trip through the galaxy far, far away.
Building an effective team is crucial in these tense tower defence fights. Pair up some stormtroopers with an AT-AT? You’ve got an effective tower-destroying duo on your hands, pal.
But like any classic Star Wars conflict, wins and losses often come down to your Champions. You’re only allowed one such character in your Lego Star Wars Battles decks; unlike other units, Champions have special abilities that can quickly turn the tide. Here are four of our favourites:
Luke Skywalker
The legendary Jedi is no stranger to tussling with the dark side – and in Lego Star Wars Battles, he’s a formidable Champion unit.
Special ability: Luke’s Force Push knocks back baddies, which comes in especially handy when approaching a tower surrounded by enemies.
Darth Vader
The Jedi turned Sith Lord is among the strongest Force practitioners of all time, and he wields that power to great effect in Lego Star Wars Battles.
Special ability: Vader’s Force Lift can stop any nearby ground troops in their tracks. (It looks supercool too.)
Yoda
A tactful leader and revered Jedi trainer, this 900-year-old Jedi Master is just as potent – and helpful – in Lego Star Wars Battles as he is in the films.
Special ability: Yoda’s Force Shield can keep injured allies alive – deploy it at the right moment to save the day!
Boba Fett
The coolest bounty hunter in the galaxy is a man of few words. But who needs to talk when you have missiles and a jetpack?
Special ability: Boba Fett’s Rocket Barrage is a long-range special ability; use it to take out clusters of foes waddling towards your towers.
