About Family Sharing
Family Sharing makes it easy for you and up to five family members to share purchases of some of your favorite apps. In addition, some apps now let you share subscriptions and in-app purchases.
To get started, simply set up Family Sharing. For step-by-step instructions on enabling Family Sharing, see the link below.
How to set up Family Sharing
One adult in the family—the family organizer—can set up Family Sharing for the group from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If you turn on purchase sharing, you’ll be asked to confirm that you agree to pay for purchases initiated by the family members you invite and that you have a valid payment method on file.
How to share a subscription
Before you can share a subscription, first you must enable Family Sharing (see above). After Family Sharing is enabled, go to your Apple Account in Settings and select the Subscriptions menu option. You will see a list of all of your active subscriptions. Select the subscription you would like to share. You will then see all of the subscription options for that particular app.
If the subscription is shareable, you will see a Share with Family toggle at the bottom of the list of subscription options. (If you do not see the toggle, the subscription is not shareable.) Switch the toggle to green. That indicates that you have enabled the subscription for sharing with your family. Note: This must be done individually for any specific subscription you’d like to share and not all subscriptions are shareable.
How to share in-app purchases
Before you can share, you must enable Family Sharing (see above). After Family Sharing is enabled, go to your Apple Account in Settings and select the Family Sharing menu option. On the Family Sharing page, select the Purchase Sharing option. You will then see a page with purchase sharing info and a toggle next to Share Purchases with Family. To enable, switch the toggle to green. This will allow you to share eligible in-app purchases. Note: Not all in-app purchases are shareable.
