My experience as a host in 2022
Biko Tracks
I’d take AirBnb over any other booking service at anytime. In 2022 I started hosting for the first time on AirBnb, the experience is really smooth, I mostly stayed because of the app, I love it, it’s very intuitive and easy to use unlike… we know which ones, and the community is also great, in my case as a Superhost the Support was also lightning fast and helpful. I recommend this app with all my heart. For now I’m taking a break from renting out but once I’m ready to do it, AirBnb’s way I go.
They manipulate reviews

We used to love Airbnb and had used it many times without issues — until recently, when we had a terrible experience with an accommodation in Copenhagen. The place was a disaster. It was filthy, the bedsheets hadn’t been changed in ages, and we even found pubic hair mixed with dust on them. It was clear that someone had stayed there just a few hours before us and that the apartment hadn’t been cleaned at all. It was disgusting. We left the apartment within two hours, contacted Airbnb support, and received a refund that same night. Naturally, we wrote a review to warn future guests about what we had found. However, a few days later, we discovered that our review had been removed. When we contacted Airbnb support to ask why, they said we should have received an email explaining the reason — which we never got. When we followed up again, they still refused to tell us why the review was deleted.Meanwhile, the owner’s review — full of false accusations — is still up, and Airbnb has refused to take it down despite all the evidence we provided. This left us with the impression that Airbnb manipulates reviews to make listings appear better and attract more customers. That would certainly explain how an apartment with supposedly good ratings could be in such terrible condition when we checked in. Who knows how many other negative reviews have been quietly removed?!
A joke

We booked an apartment in Dubai for New Years on the 18th October. 21 days before the trip the host cancelled it, leaving us without any accommodation. We talked with the Airbnb's support about compensation and they offered us 22€. We didn't agree with the offer taking into account we already had the plane tickets paid and we had to book another accommodation on a different platform costing 1000€ that the original accommodation on their platform ( New Years, obviously places 10 times more pricier than if we booked in October, and less places to choose from ) We asked for a compensation worth 50% of what we had to pay extra on the new accommodation because of THEM, and they refused. AirBnb is a horrible platform to book on, they care about the hosts more than they care about the guests ( taking into account that the guests pay and their commissions come from us too ). Definitely not recommending it, we relied on their professionalism and it was a huge JOKE. If you don't want to risk to get screwed over, don't use it!
