What gives the best chance of cheap train tickets?
1) Book early (day trains can be booked three months before the travel date, Eurostar four months before the travel date and night trains often 6 months before the travel date, advance bookings are recommended);
2) Avoid busy travel dates - for example Saturdays during school holidays, discount rates are hardly available;
3) Compare rates (or have them compared), for example the difference between the lowest rate NS International and DB Bahn can be 100%, HappyRail always looks for the most advantageous and comfortable travel option;
4) Travelling during the week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday gives the best chance of discount rates.
