Do you know the Golden Spatula? More than a mere cooking utensil, this Legaue of Legends item has gone on to inspire its very own spin-off game. Here are a few quick tips for this auto-battler that will help you make every turn count.
Work with the chaos
Golden Spatula’s arena is a chess board played by your deck, or Comps, of up to eight champions. To put together your team, you can either buy from a randomised line-up at the shop or recruit them from the arena – in frantic races against other players to reach the champions you’re after. Chaos is expected. And it’s how you work with the champions you end up with that will really matter.

Learn from your turn
Each champion excels at different aspects, and it may all seem overwhelming at first. A good way to start is by playing the normal game mode, which puts you in a round with seven other players at the same level as you.
Place champions from your deck in the arena in planning mode – the orange shadow will show the attacking distances of your champions – then warp to the battle to meet one of your seven opponents. Win your turn to keep playing, and as your level and energy decrease each round, only one victorious player will be left standing at the end of the game.
Merge for power
Having three of the same champion in your Comps gives them an instant upgrade, and you can choose to keep or sell the now-stronger fighter. If you’re after even more of a power-up, look for items on the top left bar and bring them to your champions in the field. Not all items can be mixed and matched together, so play around to find the most potent combos and rule out clashing ones.

Stay nimble
Golden Spatula is all about the moving parts, and you only have limited time to plan your moves. The game also draws from League of Legends’ set environment, which means that you’ll be greeted with a different mood or theme from time to time. The only way to really know the game? Check in often! Clocking in some playing time is the best way to learn how you can adapt to every game situation.
