Under this game’s bright, cartoony visuals hides an almighty challenge.
To begin with, it’s all lush green fields and gentle music as you slide your finger left and right to guide your character into shiny gems.
Then it gets a little trickier; as he makes prodigious leaps from one stone pillar to another, you’ve got to be a little more precise with your movements or you’ll fall to your doom.
The different worlds are dazzlingly inventive – a dreamlike rooftop dash where stars are your trampolines is a particular delight – and tight controls mean that you rarely feel cheated when you fail. And you will fail, plenty of times.
We’ve seen plenty of running games like this before, but not many with this level of audiovisual polish and creativity. In a crowded field, Rolling Sky 2 is among the best – and perhaps the most challenging – in the genre.
