The game’s matches are short – the first to score five points wins – but they pack plenty of action. Serves and spikes will send the ball flying across the net at over a hundred kilometres per hour, so you’ll really need to stay focused to time your blocks to perfection.

Newbies to the game can start off easy in the handy Auto Mode: your players will move and jump on their own, and all you need to do is tap for blocks and spikes. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, challenge yourself with the advanced Manual Mode and put your dexterity to the test pulling off seemingly impossible moves.

Each position on the court requires a different skill set, and it’s up to you to train your team based on their strengths. Personality also plays a huge role in your players’ performance. The determined Jaehyun Nam gets stronger as his stamina declines; the proud Leon delivers stronger spikes as he gets further away from the net. Keep experimenting to find out who fits where.

Show off your best moves – and your most stylish looks – on the volleyball court. Every player can be customised through hairstyle, headwear, jersey and shoes, with dozens of choices in each category that can be unlocked by spending Volleyball points. A team uniform of fox masks and plumber outfits? It won’t win you the game, but at least it will score you some major style points.

Story Mode eases you in while you get to know the game’s intriguing group of high school players. Tournament Mode dials up the difficulty to test your skills. Other modes such as Superstar Challenge and Summer Story each have their own distinctive mechanics, which means there’s always a new challenge waiting just around the corner.
