The goofy, lovable SpongeBob SquarePants has been a kids’ favourite since his Nickelodeon debut in 1999 – and he’s now the hero of the Apple Arcade game SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit! Read on to find out why this side-scrolling platformer is one of his wildest adventures yet.
Who do you play as?
SpongeBob, naturally! A limitless source of silly humour and optimism, SpongeBob works at the Krusty Krab, a booming patty joint run by the money-loving Mr. Krabs. When he isn’t frying up grub or catching jellyfish, SpongeBob can be found lounging in his pineapple house or running around with his friends in the bustling underwater city of Bikini Bottom.
What’s at stake?
Despite his relentless friendliness, SpongeBob has made a few enemies. Plankton, the pint-sized owner of the failing Chum Bucket restaurant, wants nothing more than to crush the Krusty Krab and make his business Bikini Bottom’s favourite dining spot. In SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit, Plankton snatches the coveted Krabby Patty secret formula, spelling disaster for the patty joint – and SpongeBob’s beloved career.
Does SpongeBob have any help?
He certainly does. SpongeBob’s pet snail, Gary, and his best friend, Patrick, a starfish who lives under a rock (figuratively and literally), lend a hand as SpongeBob runs through Patty Pursuit’s levels. You’ll also partner up with the inventive Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob’s perpetually grumpy co-worker Squidward.
So what do you do?
Run, jump, stomp on enemies and try to reach the end of each level in one piece! SpongeBob can even transform into a towering accordion or a jellyfish to temporarily gain special abilities. Tap into all your skills to defeat challenging bosses and unlock locations like Jellyfish Fields and Glove World.
Any tips?
Collect spatulas to unlock even more content. Many are hidden away; use your friends’ special powers (like Patrick’s ground pound) to access secret areas. Revisit levels with different friends to find them all!
