Navigate love with Kitty Powers

From the drag queen developer behind this beloved game.

Kitty Powers is back, and she’s ready to make love happen. After a decade of helping singletons find their perfect match, the famous drag queen has returned with an all-new makeover of Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker. This dating simulator puts you in the heels of a trainee, tasked with running a matchmaking agency under the expert guidance of Kitty Powers herself.

The App Store Editors spoke to the leading lady Kitty Powers (aka Magic Notion Founder Richard Franke), who both develops and stars in the game as the queen of matchmaking, about why she decided to get back into the business of love.

Your matchmaking mission

In Matchmaker Makeover, your mission is to guide quirky clients through Kitty’s little black book of suitors to their perfect match, style them at the salon, choose romantic venues and coach them through every daunting decision. Will your client find the love of their life, or will they face an agonising rejection? The pressure is on, and Kitty is watching!

Help your clients find love by guiding them through dating dilemmas.

Throughout the game, we love Kitty’s witty humour and fabulous presence. “I am inspired by all those loveable old-school drag queens from British TV. Queens like Lily Savage, The Joan Collins Fan Club, Dame Edna Everage,” says Kitty Powers. Her goal? “To bring love, acceptance and kindness to all of humanity, one date at a time!”

Kitty is back for business

After some time away from the spotlight, we asked Kitty why she is opening up the agency once more.

“It’s been 10 years since the original game, so to celebrate that milestone, the team decided it was time to bring Kitty Powers into the present day with a more polished production and refined features.”

The development team at Magic Notion addressed community feedback, refining the art, audio and game mechanics. Mini-games have always been a highlight in Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker games, putting you in the position to help clients navigate criticial dating dilemmas, including picking a dessert, dealing with a wardrobe malfunction or even having to play Pachinko to decide who pays the bill! And this latest game adds even more tricky scenarios to the mix.

Study your dates carefully – every decision counts!

“I think my favourite new mini-game is the one where you have to navigate your client’s emotional baggage, because their ex has just walked in!” Kitty says.

Future free updates are also planned, bringing new restaurants and enhanced online gameplay to keep the love flowing.

Champions of love

Although the Kitty Powers games are known for their witty dialogue and quirky situations, they have also struck a chord with an audience who have developed a more meaningful relationship with the game.

“We are most proud of the impact the franchise has had on a lot of young people, by normalising love for everyone, regardless of who you are attracted to. We have had so many letters from fans telling us how we changed their lives by helping them gain acceptance from their families and also themselves.”

The new version offers more diverse possibilities for players, who can choose male, female and non-binary characters, and can be straight, gay, bisexual or pansexual, with updated personalities and fashion options to choose from.

We couldn’t help but ask Kitty if there are any famous drag queens who would make an amazing game?

“I am a big fan of British comedy Queen, Myra DuBois, and would love to see what kind of interactive entertainment she would come up with!”
