We knew we loved it when: We saw the familiar streets around us turned into a hunting ground. There are ores, plants and animal bones to be collected as you roam, and completing hunting tasks gives you additional resources. Everything you’ve gathered can be used to craft equipment and upgrade your attributes, all in preparation for your fight against the big boss, Rathalos.

Our favourite moment: When we realised that we can drop a Paintball to mark the location of a monster, then come back to give it our full attention later, with or without three more hunters in tow for backup! And once we’re ready to make a stand, the easy-to-wield Sword & Shield, the powerful Great Sword, the agile Long Sword and long-range weapons such as the Bow and Light Bowgun can all be wielded with just one hand.
