Venture on a globetrotting journey alongside American tourist George Stobbart and French journalist Nicole “Nico” Collard as they unravel a gripping mystery in Broken Sword: Reforged. From picturesque Parisian streets to ancient ruins in the Middle East, you’ll explore rich environments, uncover hidden clues and meet a cast of quirky characters.
Whether you’re exploring the story for the first time, or revisiting this beloved classic, there’s so much to discover in this lovingly remastered version of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.
The journey begins
George’s adventure kicks off on a sunny day outside a quaint cafe in Paris – just before an explosion shatters the calm. From that moment, you’re pulled into a web of ancient conspiracies, cryptic clues and unexpected twists as George crosses paths with the determined Nico.
Classic gameplay with a modern touch
As the story unfolds, you’ll guide George through different environments by tapping objects to inspect or collect them, and engage in conversations to gather crucial information. Each clue brings you closer to the truth, and to the next big mystery.
The puzzles are clever and rewarding, testing your observation skills and creativity. Sometimes solving a puzzle means combining the oddest items in your inventory, so think dynamically!
If you’d rather enjoy the story with a bit of help, the new Story Mode offers subtle hints to keep you moving forward. For a more traditional challenge, switch to Classic Mode for the original gameplay experience fans know and love.
A stunning remaster
Longtime fans of the Broken Sword series will appreciate the care and attention poured into this remaster. More than 30,000 frames of animation from the regional 1996 version have been recreated, bringing George, Nico and all of the other characters they meet to life.
Each background has been repainted, creating intricate atmospheric settings, from Parisian alleys to sun-drenched ruins. And thanks to the enhanced audio, the fully voiced dialogue and beautiful soundtrack (composed by the acclaimed Australian composer Barrington Pheloung) sounds better than ever.
We’re thrilled by the level of hard work and care that’s gone into this remaster – a beautiful new way to experience a classic. We spoke to the game’s creator Charles Cecil MBE, about bringing the game to life.
“Back in 2008, we published Broken Sword - Director’s Cut on the original iPhone, and the game earned a 91 per cent average review score on Metacritic. Players loved the game’s rich stories, cerebral challenges and calm gameplay pace.
Fifteen years later, it’s a huge privilege to be able to bring Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars – Reforged to the App Store in high resolution, enhanced both for fans of the original game, and a whole new generation of players.”
