Visual cues can be critical to improving these situations, but so also is eliminating both visual and auditory distractions as much as possible. In most cases, the app will be used directly be the caregiver, with options disabled while the timer is running, and in most cases, with either no alert sound when the timer expires, or a very brief and quiet one. User interface elements are designed to be simple and intuitive, and with most of the items disappearing from view once the timer itself is underway.
