Hello, plant parents! We’ve updated how you can customise care tasks for your plants, and what you can do in the app for free.
◎ Customisable tasks
You can now do and track much more with tasks:
* Customise how the task appears in your list. For example, if you’ve been doing semi-hydro planting, you can rename “Water” to “Top up” or “Flush”.
* Create multiple tasks of the same type—ideal when you need more than one fertiliser application, or occasional special treatments with watering or pesticides.
* Add text notes to each task, to help you remember important details like dosage or strength.
* Enable or disable a task so it no longer shows in your list—much like archiving.
◎ Do more for free
We’ve updated how the app works for free:
* You can now manage 20 plants for free (up from 5)
* You’ll no longer see third-party ads in the app
* For free users, it remains that only watering tasks are available
◎ Other updates
A few improvements:
* PlantPal is now available in Italian.
* We reorganised sections on the plant details page to make different aspects of your plants clearer—because there can be many!
* We added more external search providers. With one tap, you can open an installed app using your search query for the plant—for Bilibili, YouTube, Safari (using your set search engine), and Zhihu.
Bug fixes:
* On the plant details page, Garden Day might apply to all 7 days of the week, regardless of your settings. Fixed.
* On the My Plants page, plants might not align vertically. Fixed.
* In the plant library, each plant’s watering and light needs are shown more clearly with a new meter design.
Thanks for your support—hope you enjoy this update! Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Happy planting!

Hello, plant parents! This update brings new and refreshed entries to the plant library — now with 504 plants in total.
• Corrected details for existing plants, including scientific names and local common names
• Removed a few unnecessary entries, especially cultivars that cluttered search results
• Added dozens of succulents, mainly from the Crassula family
• Added many subspecies and cultivars of edibles like lettuce, tomatoes, radishes and cucumbers/squash
• Added around a dozen popular annual flowers grown worldwide
• Updated photos for edibles and herbs so they look more like what you buy in shops and grow in small-space gardens
• Added common cultivars of favourite evergreens such as ZZ plants, Monsteras and Syngoniums
We hope you enjoy this update. Tell us what you think and share any ideas for future improvements.
2026.9 24 Mar
Greetings, plant parents! This release is a big one, just in time for the new season.
◎ Improved Plant Library
We have redesigned the plant library so it is faster to search, more accurate to match, and more useful for everyday care.
- Fully localised: Search and match plants in your own language. Works even if you use more than one language.
- Works offline: the library still functions without an internet connection.
- 200+ new plants, including popular herbs, fruits, and veg from around the world.
- Richer info and images: We used generative AI to help fill in photos, descriptions, and tags, making the library more informative when you are deciding how to care for a plant.
◎ Garden Day for your tasks (Pro)
For Pro members, we are introducing Garden Day, a simpler way to keep a realistic weekly rhythm with your plants.
- One focused care day: Choose one day of the week as Garden Day. A rabbit icon and orange tint mark it clearly in your task list.
- See what is coming up: On Garden Day, PlantPal shows tasks that are due soon, so you can batch watering, pruning, and repotting instead of chasing them every day.
- Stay light on other days: On non-Garden Days, you only see tasks due that day, which keeps the list short and manageable.
◎ More ways to repeat a task
Your plants follow the seasons, and now your tasks can, too.
- Seasonal repeats: Set tasks to repeat only in specific months. For example, schedule a deep clean or reshaping for early spring and late autumn, and keep your list uncluttered for the rest of the year.
- Flexible intervals: Make tasks repeat every X weeks or every X months, such as watering every 3 weeks or feeding every 2 months, so you do not have to remember the pattern yourself.
◎ App improvements & bug fixes
We have fixed a long list of issues to help the app run more smoothly.
We hope this update makes it easier to learn about your plants, keep a realistic routine, and enjoy your garden. We always welcome your feedback and suggestions.
2026.8 17 Mar
Hello, plant parents! This update focuses on improving app quality.
Photo Library improvements:
* When you view a photo from your Photo Library without the right permissions, you’ll now be prompted to grant or update access.
* We’ve refreshed labels and messages for saving photos to your Photo Library, so it’s clearer how to choose what works for you.
Interface improvements:
* On iOS 26, long‑pressing a plant now shows the menu alongside its thumbnail. On iPad, the thumbnail has a smooth hover effect when you use Apple Pencil.
* Similarly, on iOS 26, long‑pressing a photo thumbnail shows the menu next to the photo, with the same Apple Pencil hover effect on iPad.
Bug fixes:
* On iOS 18, the confirmation alert when deleting plants, photos, rooms and more sometimes failed to show all available buttons. Fixed.
* On iOS 18, the Save button could incorrectly appear as “Confirm” when creating a new plant or editing notes. Fixed — it now correctly shows “Save”.
* When a new day started, or the system time zone changed, the task list did not always refresh properly. Fixed.
We hope you enjoy this update. Share any feedback or ideas from your plant corner!
2026.5 3 Mar
Greetings, plant parents! This update improves how you manage your care tasks.
◎ Filter and focus
We have redesigned the task list to be more powerful and practical:
- See what’s on for today at a glance: is it just watering, or is it time to bring out the fertiliser as well?
- Filter tasks by type so you can, for example, tackle all fertilising jobs first.
- When you have finished caring for a plant, hide it from the list to stay focused on what’s next.
- Open full task details and jump straight to the plant or its task history with ease.
◎ Bug fixes
- Live Activity could sometimes start more than one instance at once. Fixed.
- Some tasks still showed as “Due Today” even after you completed them that day. Fixed.
- On the plant page and in the photo list, photo thumbnails could jitter when opening or closing the long‑press menu. Fixed.
- The app could crash when receiving a large number of updates from iCloud. Fixed.
Hope you enjoy this update. We would love to hear any feedback or suggestions.
2026.4 17 Feb

2026.3 4 Feb
Greetings, plant parents! This update includes a few small fixes and polish following the 2026.1 language updates.
- When using PlantPal on multiple devices, if a plant or photo was deleted elsewhere the page on other devices could go blank. Fixed — you’ll now see a short message explaining that the plant or photo was deleted.
- Live Activity wasn’t starting properly on iOS and iPadOS 26+. Fixed.
- The “Move…” menu sometimes didn’t work for plants in your list. Fixed.
- We’ve added a subtle visual cue for plants that are selected and open in the plant list. This makes it easier to see which plant is active on iPad when using the 3‑column layout.
- We’ve refreshed the wording and tooltips around the “Filter” option in the plant list to make it clearer how to use the filter button.
We’re also removing support for importing data from a backup. The wording for the “Data Export” feature has been updated to show it’s no longer meant for backups — PlantPal still supports data portability, and you can export your data for use in another app.
We hope you enjoy this update. Let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
