For programmers, having a library of code snippets can be a huge time-saver. After all, why cover the same ground when you’ve already coded something that solves the problem at hand?

SnippetsLab helps you reuse snippets from previous projects by keeping everything impeccably organised. Categorise your snippets however you like: whether by project, platform or coding language (the app supports over 380 of them). The app also does some of the heavy lifting of classifying everything; its Smart Groups feature lets you create rules that sort your snippets automatically.

Thanks to its Markdown support, the app can also serve as a fully featured editor. As you compose in Markdown, you’ll see a real-time preview of your text, complete with syntax highlighting for supported programming languages.

But the biggest productivity boon comes from the SnippetsLab assistant. Click its menu bar icon (or type the keyboard shortcut) to bring up a search bar for quick access to all your snippets. The assistant also offers a fast way to input a new code snippet, give it a title and file it in a folder.

Use the app to tidy up your code too. Convert indents to spaces (or tabs, if that’s how you roll) with a keyboard shortcut and strip trailing spaces. After all, when you’re building something amazing, you always want to have the right tool to hand.
