The open-world adventure game Genshin Impact plays out on the massive fantasy continent of Teyvat.
As you roam the land, you’ll encounter many surprises: strange rock piles, flying sprites, unlit torches... the right interactions with them will unveil new journeys and rich rewards.
We’re sharing nine secrets in the game to give you a head start on your quest.
1. Fairies
Location: Scattered all over the map.
When you get close to a fairy, it will guide you to the next step. Follow it to the Seelie Garden and unlock treasure chests. If you don’t get a reward straight away, don’t worry – sometimes you’ll need to track multiple fairies to earn a reward.
2. Parkour challenge
Location: Mondstadt Square
The challenge automatically begins when you approach the mysterious light on the city wall. Chase the rings of light one by one, all the way to the end to collect your reward.
3. Wind seeds
Location: Mondstadt – Galesong Hill
The flashing flying objects are wind seeds. Usually three seeds will appear at the same time in a given area. When you approach, they will drift towards you.
Collecting all three generates an updraft. Spread your wings and ride the wind to higher locations and find treasure. Here’s a tip: the updraft will form where the third seed is, so think carefully about the order in which you collect the seeds.
4. Elemental monuments
Location: Mondstadt – Windrise
Monuments with different attributes are scattered all around the continent. Launch a matching elemental attack on one to activate them, prompting a variety of challenges such as elemental attack, time-limited reach and time-limited defeat.
5. Ancient torches
Location: Stone Gate on the border of Mondstadt and Liyue
Find and light all the torches in an area to unlock treasure chests.
6. Pressure sensors
Location: Liyue – Lingju Pass
The disc mechanism requires a certain weight to set off. Play around with your character’s skills and weight until you hit it spot on. Sometimes multiple pressure sensors must be activated at the same time to reveal the rewards.
7. Smash rocks
Location: Liyue – entrance to secret realm of Taishan Mansion
Smash rocks to unleash rock seeds. Put them in a stone niche to light it up. When you light up all the stone niches in the area, the water will recede and the secret realm will be revealed.
8. Look for patterns
Location: Liyue – near Wangshu Inn
Use earth elemental combat skills to create a Starfall and put it in place of a missing stone statue to unlock a treasure chest. Try filling in or destroying other similarly incongruous features, such as rock piles, collectibles or monsters, to uncover bonuses.
9. Word puzzles
Location: Liyue – entrance to Huaqing Secret Palace
This is a closed-off ancient ruin surrounded by stone pillars masking elemental obelisks. Search the area for the inscription: “Let anyone who follows in the footsteps of the immortals kowtow before the treasure’s gate.” Then follow the clues to find the three best-preserved stone pillars and interact with the elemental obelisks underneath to access the secret realm.
You will certainly chance upon these hidden puzzles on your journey in Teyvat, and the deeper you venture, the trickier the trials. For example, on Cape Oath in Mondstadt, there is a passageway to a mysterious island… but this is as far as we’ll take you. The rest of the journey is yours to discover.
