The manhwa series Yulgang has been one of South Korea’s most popular martial arts titles since it debuted in 1994. Now, more than 20 years after its first video game adaptation, the latest incarnation New Yulgang: W offers remastered graphics and richer gameplay for a brand-new journey into a world of adventure.

What we love: Set in the Yulgang world you know and love, you start out as a disciple in the neutral Hyeon-bal House alongside central characters Han Bi-kwang and Dam Hwa-rin. Your fateful choice between the schools of Chaos, where members are driven by their desires and worship power, and Order, where followers protect the weak and respect the rule of law, determines the different paths your story might take.

Quick tip: Familiar classes Bladesman, Spearman, Swordsman, Healer and Archer each comes with their own weapons and fighting skills, and you’ll acquire more powerful techniques as you level up. Swordsmen, for instance, start out with the Green Lotus Swordplay but can eventually learn Green Waves Swordplay and Phantom Swordplay. But remember to add agile footwork to your weapons training so you can roam more freely.
