Looking for a practical way to edit documents on the move? Microsoft Word is a tool that’s part of everyday life for many. On iPhone, it is compact but comprehensive – you can start new documents or continue working on existing ones wherever you go.
Edit documents from anywhere
If you want to access your documents from any device, OneDrive is the fastest solution. Once you create a Microsoft account, you can get started right away. You can also add other online services, too.
Where to find it: Tap the files icon at the bottom of the start page and add your storage account: for example, Dropbox or Box.
Stay focused with mobile view
The mobile view only displays text and hides the layout, so you can fully concentrate on what you're writing. If you want to see how your text looks on a page with margins and a header, switch to print layout.
Where to find it: You can switch between the two views by tapping either the smartphone or print layout icon in the menu bar while editing your document.
Spruce up your document with images
If you’ve taken a photo with your device or found a picture that is suitable for your document, you can easily add it using the insert function.
Where to find it: Tap the three dots at the bottom right and then tap Insert in the menu, select Camera and position your photo in the document. You can crop the image and add shadows or a frame using the format templates.
Structure your documents
If you’re creating longer documents, future you – and other readers – will appreciate texts with a clear structure. You can do this by defining the headings, just as on your computer.
Where to find it: Tap the three dots at the bottom right. While in the home menu, select a line in your document and apply the appropriate formatting: for example, Headings. This will structure your document accordingly. Select View in the menu to see the entire structure.
Find grammatical errors
Do you ever find it tricky to identify typing errors (even after reading them five times)? Microsoft Word offers tools that will help you notice mistakes, including the “Read aloud” function, which is useful for proofreading.
Where to find it: Tap the three dots at the top right while editing your document and select “Read aloud”.
