Doctor Strange returns

When a childhood dream collides with the trials and uncertainties of living in a big city far away from home, would you still want the life you have carved out for yourself?

After 14 years, Golden Horse Award-winning actress Gwei Lun-Mei makes her return to the small screen in Women in Taipei, a new series streaming on Disney+.

Quick take: Adapted from the Japanese drama series Tokyo Girl and over three years in the making, this new show follows Lin I-Shan (Gwei Lun-Mei), who manoeuvres through her 20s, 30s and 40s just like the heroine in the original.

Moving from one neighbourhood to another in Taipei, her experiences reflect the challenges faced in different stages of life. After the ups and downs in love and work, can Lin still stay true to herself and maintain friendships with her hometown best friends?

Don’t miss: Life in a big city is not always easy, but Lin’s got the support of the Tainan Gang, which includes actors Wang Po-Chieh, Kimi Hsia and Cosmos Lin. There will also be up to 20 star-studded guest appearances throughout the series. Think the likes of Tien Hsin, Cheryl Yang, Joelle Lu, Cindy Lien and Patty Lee!

When it’s happening: Women in Taipei is now available exclusively on Disney+. New episodes come out every Wednesday.
