Goodreads is a truly intelligent service for those who enjoy reading. I dismissed it at first but as I started using it I discovered that having a big database of books and all my friend’s reading lists integrated is a great way to consolidate ones future reading and I’m better off for it.

Goodreads is a fantastic app to track your reading progress and to keep readers and authors connected in a large literary community that circulates raving reviews and popular book trends. HOWEVER, the interface seems OUTDATED already as it hardly changed since I joined in 2012. (Esp. The search engine bar from MY BOOKS on the phone app, that's so 2008) PLEASE!! We need an app that can also keep up with the globalized and modern world despite introducing us to the bookish world ! HUGE THANKS!! Also, please add more books info of other languages like traditional Chinese and Japanese, the lack of representation of such is simply appallingWould love to have more genre suggestions like ranging from different period, e.g. The romantic period, the Beat Generation etc, or Gothic, Romanticism, Modernism, Surrealism or even Adultery, Grotesque/ Macabre, Youth/ Bildungsroman, Road trip etc

I have been using Goodreads (and previously Shelfari) to keep track of my reading record for years, and while the earlier days of the GR app was good, most recently it has been a disappointment. For one, it takes forever to load the app on occasion. Then it doesn’t keep an accurate record of my reading for the annual reading challenge and keeps missing a foreign language book despite that I updated the reading dates multiple times. I am also not happy that more often than not, the GR library is unable to locate a foreign language book even if I scanned the barcode with the app. This is quite frustrating for a multilingual person.

Goodreads is great as it not only gives you recommendations for book which is great as I was in a reading slump it can also track the books you read on kindle
