The air-travel concierge Flighty monitors departure and arrival times, nudges you when you should head to the airport, tells you all about the plane you’re on and shows you exactly where you are on the runway.
What we love: The data-driven intel that makes flying so much smoother. The day before your trip, Flighty starts monitoring potential delays and connection statuses, and even displays a chart of your flight’s on-time performance over the past 60 days. Desktop widgets show live flight status and boarding information as well as interesting stats about past flights.

Quick tip: Keep track of friends, not flight numbers. Once someone becomes your Flighty Friend, you’ll receive updates on their shared flight status and landing time and be notified about any delays or cancellations. The app can even show a live flight map with the in-air locations of everyone you’ve added.
Meet the creator: Flighty was launched in 2019 by three self-described “flight nerds” who’ve now logged 1.8 million miles. “Everybody has a person in their group who knows flights; I was that person,” says founder Ryan Jones. “Friends would text me things like, ‘Hey, I’m stuck in New Orleans, can you help?’ No one asks me anymore, so I think that means the app is working.”
