In Letterpress, making big words earns you big points. But there’s more here than meets the optical perception organ! Create words from a grid of 25 letter tiles; every letter you use changes to your colour and scores you a point – until your opponent plays a word of their own and snatches tiles and points back! Whether you’re going head-to-head with friends or challenging strangers online, it’s a delightfully tricky tug-of-war.
What we love: The sly strategy! While longer words capture more tiles, winning also entails keeping those tiles from falling back into your opponent’s hands. For example, surround a letter with tiles of your colour to turn it a deeper shade; your opponent won’t earn points by playing it. And don’t forget prefixes and suffixes: If your opponent plays capture, adding a prefix is a sneaky way to, ahem, recapture those tiles.
Quick tip: By grabbing and surrounding a corner tile early, then expanding your territory outward, you’ll make it much more difficult for your rival to run up their score. The game ends when every letter has been used at least once, so plan ahead to make the final, decisive move!

One of the team’s favourite Letterpress features is bot matches: “While human opponents are typically more fun, creative and engaging, sometimes you have to wait a while for turns to be played,” says Solebon’s David Palan. “Bots play their turns in seconds – great while you wait.”
