Apple Design Award winner Darkroom bridges the gap between pro-level photo-editing tools and quick convenience.
What we love: Bells and whistles for the pros; streamlined tools for everyone else. Get started with simple cropping and adjustment tools, then explore thousands of pre-installed and community-created presets. A subscription unlocks advanced features such as colour grading and AI-powered masks to touch up only specific elements in a photo – or even just specific colours.

Quick tip: When you’ve perfected the colour grading on that honeymoon sunset selfie, you can instantly apply those same edits to other photos using batch processing. While viewing the edited photo, choose Edit > Selectively Copy Edits and select which edits (such as Adjustments and Masks) to copy. Then return to your library, select multiple images, and click the clipboard icon in the toolbar to apply the edits to all the photos.
Meet the creator: Founders Jasper Hauser and Majd Taby had form and function top of mind when creating Darkroom. “We’re constantly iterating to strike that balance between power and simplicity, where users can intuitively create without feeling overwhelmed by options,” Hauser says.
