Sink your teeth into Vampire Survivors, the ultimate showdown where it’s you against the world. Quick to learn but tough to master, there are cool characters to collect (some of whom are inspired by our favourite videogame characters), alongside an arsenal of weapons and upgrades waiting to be uncovered.
However, it’s hard to collect all of these goodies if you keep perishing to the hordes of bloodthirsty monsters.
Fear not! We’ve tapped into the wisdom of the game’s developer, Poncle, to equip you with three top tips fit for rookies and pros alike. Get ready to stake your claim and annihilate those enemies.
Start strong
It can be a little intimidating when you first land on the map given that every single monster is headed in your direction. What’s a good starting strategy? The team at Poncle have the answer.

“Part of playing Vampire Survivors is the journey to becoming powerful enough to slay wave after wave of monsters being thrown at you. The key to surviving the night is experimenting with different combinations of weapons and never giving up.
“Especially early in a run it’s important to take your time to grab gems and items. Walking into a pack of enemies to grab a bag of coins isn’t going to end well, and items won’t disappear so take a few seconds to circle around.”
Gear up
The gems that the monsters drop are your experience points (XP). Gather these and you’ll level up, giving you more hard calls to make as you decide which power-up to choose.

“When you do get those XP gems and level up, it’s better to focus on a couple of weapons and build them up early on, rather than having a bunch of weapons sitting at level one or two. Try it, you will feel the difference in power.”
Money matters
Defeating some enemies will drop a big chest filled with gold, but be careful when going to grab it to avoid getting trapped by monsters. Once you have a nice bank of gold, what can you do with it?

“Armour and Luck are good power-ups to spend your first gold on. Armour provides a flat defence against even very powerful enemies so it’s worth picking up early. Luck is often ignored by players but we promise it’s worth it. There is no downside to refunding your gold in the main menu and trying different power-ups.
“Experimentation and exploration are the best paths to success in Vampire Survivors. And garlic, of course.”
