Is your little one ready to try their first asanas? Emma, Leo and David from educational app Papumba are teaming up with yoga app Cosmic Kids to whisk your child away on a fun-filled yoga safari adventure. They can follow instructional videos as they try out easy-to-follow animal postures and hear some amusing stories along the way.

Accompany your child as they blow bubbles through the sea in a fish pose or lumber through the forest like a bear. Follow along and you may find that this can be a yoga retreat for parents, too! Here are a few of our favourite asanas to get started with.
Bear walks
What it’s for: Releasing strain on the lower back, especially after sitting for extended periods.
Movement sequence: Position yourself on your hands and knees and spread your fingers wide. Then tuck your toes and pull your hips up to the sky. Come up high onto your tippy-toes and walk.
Yoga safari tip: Embrace the bear within by imagining you’re foraging for juicy berries in the forest.
Butterfly pose
What it’s for: Opening up your hips and stretching your inner thighs.
Movement sequence: Sit with the soles of your feet joined together and wrap your hands around them. Gently move your knees up and down like butterfly wings.
Yoga safari tip: Try to lift both legs at the same time to improve balance.

Fish pose
What it’s for: Stretching all the way down the front of your torso.
Movement sequence: Sit down with your legs out long in front of you. Lean back on your elbows, drawing them in close to your body and arch your torso up to the sky.
Yoga safari tip: Don’t forget to blow imaginary bubbles as you swim through the sea.
