What we love: New discoveries! Making different decisions might land you the key to a locked building, locate a crashed spacecraft or recover more memories of your lost mentor. It’s just as rewarding to act completely out of character – like denying desperate robots a life-saving battery – as it is making decisions that feel true to yourself.

Quick tip: Past the lighthouse, keep walking along the coast – a long, long way – to earn 1,000 coins as a reward. (Don’t worry: getting back to where you started is much quicker!)

Meet the creator: After working at a social-network game company, indie developer Lizardry went solo and released 7 Days to End With You. Designing Refind Self so it didn’t feel like a personality test in the form of a game was no small challenge: Lizardry ended up discarding three completed versions before landing on the final iteration.
