Eter Radio is an app for listening to Internet radio stations. Eter Radio is available in a universal version for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and tvOS.
Eter Radio uses the publicly available radio-browser.info database, which contains a collection of free and publicly available Internet radio stations. You can also add any stream by URL.
Eter for iOS, iPadOS and macOS offers a hand-crafted list of recommended stations and the ability to search radio-browser.info for other radio stations. To be able to save favourite stations, you must unlock the program with a one-time In-App Purchase. (The price in the App Store may vary depending on the country and the local currency rate). Eter on tvOS and watchOS works as a companion app. If you've upgraded to Premium, you can play your favourites on these platforms too.
Curious what that song is? You can optionally use Shazam automatic song recognition to know what’s playing. (Available for all users.)
Enjoy unlimited listening with Eter on any Apple anything, including CarPlay, for free.

- Hide the recommended stations & just see your own list.

- A long-awaited feature for many users is finally here: the ability to open songs in Spotify.
- We’ve also added the ability to import and export your favorite station lists to and from XSPF files. This makes it easier to transfer your lists to Eter from other programs or share your list with friends so they can import your stations into their own apps.
- We've also cleaned up some detritus in the Recommended stations.

We're excited to bring you Eter 2.3, with new features and improvements you’ve asked for, along with the ongoing bug fixes we add to every release. Um, until we run out of bugs! Here’s what we’ve added:
Shazam Support
- You can enable Shazam automatic song recognition in Settings. Once activated, Eter will periodically use Shazam on the stream audio to enhance song metadata in the player, improving recognition accuracy. This means you can see what’s playing (and choose to copy it to the clipboard or open in Apple Music) even when the stream does not provide track metadata.
- Permissions: Shazam requires microphone access, but within Eter, it only listens to the audio being played through the app, not your actual microphone.
- By default, Shazam recognition will be enabled for all favorite stations. You can customize this by enabling or disabling it per station in the favorites list; tap the Edit pencil to see this and other per-station settings
VoiceOver Improvements
- Better navigation in My Stations and History tabs.
- New rotor actions for the My Stations list, allowing reordering via drag & drop, moving stations to the top or bottom.
- New rotor actions to open songs in the History in Apple Music (if available) and copy song details to the clipboard.
- Additional accessibility refinements for a smoother experience.
Experimental Chromecast Support
- Paid users can enable Chromecast (Google Cast) support in Settings.
- Once enabled, a Chromecast icon will appear in the top right corner. Tap it to select a device and start or stop casting.
Additional Enhancements
- Added a preference to choose whether newly added favorite stations appear at the top or bottom of the list.
- Fixed an issue where new stations added to the top of the list didn't always appear in the first position.

Want to reorder My Favorites to have your stations just how you like? Now you can! Rearrange stations to your heart’s content on iOS or Mac and the new order will be reflected everywhere you have Eter installed including on your Watch, on your TV (via tvOS) and of course in CarPlay.

Eter 2.0 brings…
- A significant design refresh, with a new app icon, cover artwork and more, all the original work of our Winnipeg designer, Brady Froese!
- Expanded search options: you can now search by genre, place or whatever comes to mind and Eter will check the radio-browser.info tags to see what it can find. Search results show radio-browser's most popular streams at the top. Of course, you can still search by station name or add any stream manually using that stream’s URL.
- Recently played tracks: premium users will now see a new tab showing their listening history (for streams that publish this). Just like in the player view, you can tap a song to open it in Apple Music.
- Media key support: you can now play or pause audio, move through your streams or tracks, and control volume right from the keyboard.
- Mac only: we heard you! Premium users can now choose to use Eter as a menu bar app and hide it from the Dock. Check out the Settings to see all your options.
- iOS only: swipe to delete from My Stations or History.
