Descent Optimizer calculates the ideal feet-per-minute (FPM) rate you need to reach your target altitude so you always arrive on profile, stabilized, and ready to land.
HOW IT WORKS
Enter your ground speed, distance to go, and altitude difference. The app instantly calculates your required descent rate, accounting for aircraft performance, wind conditions, and deceleration distance.
AIRCRAFT PROFILES
Choose from four realistic categories each with tailored approach altitude, level-off time, approach speed, and FPM limits:
Training: Cessna 172, Piper Cherokee, Diamond DA40
Turboprop: King Air, ATR 72, Dash 8
Regional Jet: CRJ 700, Embraer E175, ERJ 145
Airliner: Boeing 737, Airbus A320, 777, A350
WIND CORRECTION
Factor in headwind or tailwind components to see how wind affects your required descent rate in real time. The app adjusts effective ground speed and recalculates your FPM automatically.
DECELERATION DISTANCE
Flying faster than your approach speed? The app calculates how much distance you need to slow down and subtracts it from your available descent distance just like real flight planning.
GO-AROUND ALERTS
If the numbers don't work too close, too fast, or unstable approach the app warns you before you commit. Know when to go around before it's too late.
