The Deep Infection Risk Score for Open Tibia Fractures scoring app is based on a large study performed at the R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center. This retrospective study reviewed 769 open tibia fractures treated over a 14 year period and found 4 factors that predicted deep infection following treatment. Entering fracture characteristics into the app will return a predictive score based on the model developed in this study.
