As always, a neat idea becomes rotten by interstitials, notifications and fluff. iOS default note app does the same jobs but without the hassle and distractions.

I liked using this app to track restaurants, etc., but nowI can’t do anything without being asked to upgrade and pay. I’m looking at alternatives now. What a bummer.

Totally get the frustration. But just to clarify: browsing, consulting and sharing your places are still completely free. Mapstr Plus only kicks in when adding new places beyond 300, which is far from basic usage. Your map is still yours

I’ve been a long time user of mapstr, it was my go to alternative to make my own lists and was recently considering Beli as an alternative but chose to keep mapstr for the freedom of making your own lists.While I understand cloud based apps and api to the gmaps api cannot be free, I think looking the app at 300 places before asking for money is just a bad paywal, not even well thought. You could have just worked with the new features for a while, expend on social feature or even comparing places with friends. Add things like possibility to print your maps and get it at home, make sharing your map possible with a one time payment for influencers who make a living out of it. But capping that amount to 300 and ask us 60$, it’s a funny April’s fool.I am subscribed to mealime, adobe suite, what value can I make as a user if I have to pay the price of a restaurant everyear to keep a fancy map with a few colors…
