Successful brain-training app Impulse is helping those of us that find numbers and maths to be a challenge.
While giving change, splitting a bill or telling the time are all simple everyday tasks even if you don’t love numbers and maths, for people with dyscalculia, dealing with those money matters and numbers is hard. What’s more, it’s common for people with dyscalculia to also have dyslexia.
As is often the case with neurodiverse thinking, dyscalculia can bring impressive skills to any team: practical ability, problem-solving and creativity are just a few examples. These can benefit both teaching and innovation in all aspects of life. As we get a better understanding of how our brains work, we also discover new tools such as Impulse that support many different ways of thinking, and help us understand any challenges that can arise.
Making maths less daunting

Impulse has more than 200 exercises that target key cognitive skills that are necessary for day-to-day life no matter what your age, including memory, problem-solving and mental maths. A regular brain workout is important for all of us, but even more so if you’re dealing with a challenge such as dyscalculia. Set up a personalised brain-training plan in the app and make friends with numbers – repetition and regularity will be key.
Keep things interesting by trying the app’s new daily games and look out for the detailed statistics on every game you play – they’ll show your progress and the milestones you’re reaching.
