In Toca Life World’s open-ended “digital doll’s house”, kids can let their imaginations run wild and act out their own narratives with characters and props in over 60 locations. Send a sloth to the hair salon or solve mysteries with a crab sidekick. A big part of the fun is also recording each scene to watch later.

With the character creator tool, your little ones can now play with a buddy that more closely resembles themselves, their friends, their family or anyone else they can dream up.

When you’re building a character, you’ll find a staggering amount of options to customise your creation with. As well as a range of body types, skin colours, hair styles and mouth and nose shapes, there are prosthetic limbs and hearing devices too.

To find the character-building part of Toca Life, head to the main city with the big glass building. A sign will point you in the direction of Floople Friends. Tap the video screen and you’ll be on your way to creating unlimited playmates.

Once you’re happy with your character, add them to any scene by tapping the yellow sign in the bottom right of the screen.
