Defy gravity in Galaxy Mix, a puzzle game that tasks you with combining celestial bodies into ever bigger planets without filling up your screen. Drop one tiny moon onto another to turn them into a small star, then one small star onto another to make a diminutive planet... before long, you’ll have yourself a massive black hole!
What we love: Galaxy Mix blends the spatial reasoning of piece-dropping puzzlers with the satisfaction of merge games. It also shakes up the formula, literally, with the power to dislodge pesky planets with a shake of your device, and bombs that help clear a path when your cosmos gets a bit too crowded.
Quick tip: If you’re strapped for time, check out the game’s Time Attack and Turn modes. Time Attack tasks you with getting the highest score possible in a set time limit, while Turn mode restricts the number of planets you can drop before the game’s over.
Meet the creator: Designer Dimitri Darsch and artist Céline Pêcheur head up Seele Games, a studio based in France. The pair describe their mission as making top-notch games for smaller devices. As well as being available on iPhone and iPad, Galaxy Mix is also playable on Apple Watch!
