APPS WE LOVE

Particle

Particle distills the news with AI-generated summaries from multiple sources.

Feeling news fatigue? Particle uses AI to create bite-size summaries that draw from a range of sources – sometimes hundreds – to cover every angle. Each summary incorporates opposing viewpoints and offers explainers clear enough for a 5-year-old.

What we love: Each news item is meticulously broken down into digestible sections: a bulleted overview, quotes, images and related stories. There’s also a political-spectrum slider showing where the summarised coverage falls. Still have questions? Ask Particle about the story and get an answer instantly.

Bulleted overviews combine reporting from multiple sources (left), while the “Explain Like I’m 5” option provides an even simpler summary.

Quick tip: The app’s Podcast Clips feature surfaces highlights from podcasts about a specific topic – no need to sit through an entire episode. Tap the name of the podcast to see guest and host info, additional clips and a transcript.

Meet the creator: Former Twitter engineers Sara Beykpour and Marcel Molina built Particle after years of working on news products. “There’s a lot of news, but not enough understanding,” Molina says. “We wanted to make staying informed feel effortless.”
